City of Jetmore embraces wind energy

Kansas

Anyone who has spent any amount of time in western Kansas knows just how abundant our supply of wind is-- and with an average annual wind speed of between 15 and 18 mph the City of Jetmore has made the decision to be the first municipality in the state to take full advantage of this abundant natural resource.

The City has finalized a contract with West Wind Energy, LLC. to erect 2 N-150 3 phase MICON 108 wind turbines which will feed directly into the City's power grid and help to stabilize power costs for the citizens of Jetmore (pop. 900).

Mayor Bill Goebel stated, "Jetmore is a progressive community and the council has been looking into this for over two years. We've done our homework and feel that this project will be a very valuable asset to the community."

Groundbreaking is scheduled to take place on July 10. For more information, contact Lea Ann Seiler at Hodgeman County Economic Development 620-357-8831 or hodgeman1@fairpoint.net.
