Wyobraska cattle sales reportThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska, and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending June 28, totaled 1,575 head, compared to 100 head last week and 1,275 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week at Wyoming auctions, feeder steers and heifers were not well tested. Demand was moderate to good. Direct trading was slow this past week with no recent price comparison available. Demand was moderate to light. Little interest was noted for fall contracting of cattle. Higher grain prices causing uncertainty from cattle feeders. Buyer inquiry light to moderate on light offerings. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 68% of the supply, heifers 32%, with 73% over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 850 head of the total receipts. Steers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 465 lbs., 132.00; 695 lbs., 126.25; 715 to 780 lbs., 105.00 to 119.50; 820 to 885 lbs., 107.50 to 112.25; fleshy 965 lbs., 90.50; 1090 lbs., 94.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 510 lbs., 125.00. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 540 lbs., 116.00 November; 600 lbs., 115.00; 825 lbs., 110.50 August. Delivered price, 675 lbs., 110.00. Heifers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 500 to 585 lbs., 116.00 to 121.00; 620 to 700 lbs., 103.00 to 107.50; 710 lbs., 107.50; 760 to 765 lbs., 96.00 to 104.00; 875 lbs., 92.50.
