Springfield dairy cattle sale

The Springfield Livestock Marketing Center, Springfield, Mo., reported receipts of 772 head June 24, compared to 926 head last week and 1,232 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Jefferson City, Mo.

This was a special dairy cattle sale. Demand and supply were moderate with nearly 6% springer heifers, 30% bred heifers, 30% open heifers, 3% fresh and milking cows, 13% bred and springer cows, and 3% calves. Holsteins unless noted otherwise.

Springer heifers: Bred seven to nine months, Supreme 2125.00 to 2300.00, Approved 1690.00 to 2050.00, crossbreds 1675.00 to 1950.00. Medium 1100.00 to 1625.00, crossbreds 1000.00 to 1675.00. Common 800.00 to 1025.00. Heifers, bred three to six months: Supreme 2000.00 to 2400.00, crossbreds 2000.00 to 2200.00, Approved 1575.00 to 2000.00, crossbreds 1500.00 to 1775.00, Jerseys 1700.00 to 1750.00, individual registered 1875.00. Medium 1200.00 to 1650.00, crossbreds 900.00 to 1400.00, Jerseys 1075.00 to 1500.00. Common 900.00 to 1150.00, crossbreds 460.00 to 860.00. Heifers bred one to three months, Supreme 1910.00 to 2000.00, Approved 1600.00 to 1840.00, crossbreds 1350.00 to 1500.00, Jerseys 1725.00 to 775.00. Medium 1025.00 to 1400.00. Common 500.00 to 950.00.

Open heifers: Approved 390 lbs., couple 950.00; 400 to 455 lbs., 975.00 to 1050.00, crossbreds package 1025.00; 525 to 600 lbs 1150.00 to 1225.00; 600 to 650 lbs Jerseys couple 1200.00, package registered 1400.00; 650 to 700 lbs 1275.00 to 1450.00; 700 to 800 lbs 1325.00 to 1590.00; 845 to 900 lbs 1450.00 to 1575.00; package 966 lbs 1350.00. Medium 400 to 500 lbs., 800.00 to 900.00, crossbreds package 443 lbs 900.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 700.00 to 1025.00; 600 to 650 lbs., 925.00 to 1125.00. Common 450 to 600 lbs., 380.00 to 600.00.

Replacement cows: Fresh and milking cows, Approved crossbreds 1475.00 to 1725.00. Medium 1125.00 to 1360.00, crossbred individual 1375.00. Common 500.00 to 875.000.

Springer cows: Bred seven to nine months, Approved 1350.00 to 1600.00, crossbreds 1625.00 to 1700.00. Medium 1000.00 to 1400.00, crossbreds couple 1175.00 to 1200.00. Common 735.00 to 925.00. Cows, bred one to six months, Approved 1435.00 to 1690.00, crossbreds 1400.00 to 1720.00, Jerseys 1200.00 to 1400.00. Medium 850.00 to 1375.00, crossbreds 850.00 to 1325.00. Common 735.00 to 925.00, Jerseys 440.00 to 700.00.

Baby calves: Holstein heifers, scarce. Holstein bulls 110.00 to 125.00. Crossbred heifers 210.00 to 340.00.
