Joplin regional cattle sales

The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 4,000 head June 30, compared to 5,973 head last week, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers were steady to $2 higher, heifers were $1 to $3 higher. Demand was moderate to good, supply moderate. The feeder cattle market was active as corn futures are trading lower and fed cattle traded $3 to $5 higher at $98 to 99.50 live and $154 to $155 dressed. Pasture conditions are very good for the first of July. Heavy rain continues to cause flooding in some areas. The feeder supply included 50% steers, 39% heifers, 11% bulls, with 60% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 500 to 600 lbs., 115.00 to 123.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 106.00 to 117.00; 775 to 800 lbs., 110.25 to 112.25; 800 to 900 lbs., 109.25 to 111.75; 925 to 950 lbs., 104.25 to 107.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 250 to 300 lbs., 127.00 to 137.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 110.00 to 117.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 109.00 to 119.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 104.00 to 116.00, lot 652 lbs., thin 116.25; 700 to 800 lbs., 103.00 to 111.25; 800 to 900 lbs., 103.50 to 111.50; 900 to 1000 lbs., 99.00 to 104.60.

Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, package 556 lbs., 72.00; 750 to 775 lbs., 66.50 to 69.50.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 425 to 500 lbs., 103.00 to 106.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 103.00 to 106.75; 600 to 700 lbs., 98.00 to 105.50; 700 to 775 lbs., 97.50 to 103.50 package 895 lbs., 93.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 325 to 400 lbs., 95.00 to 102.50, thin 105.00 to 107.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 93.50 to 102.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 97.00 to 104.00, lot 108.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 94.00 to 103.00, lot 671 lbs., thin 104.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 92.00 to 100.50; 800 to 875 lbs., 91.00 to 102.60.
