Ft. Smith livestock auction report

The Ft. Smith Livestock Auction, Ft. Smith, Ark., reported receipts of 446 head June 30, compare to 798 head last week and 572 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service to USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows were steady to $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were mostly steady. Feeder steers and heifers were uneven, mostly steady to $1 higher. The supply included 235 feeder calves, 130 feeder yearlings, 38 replacement cows, 40 slaughter cows, 3 slaughter bulls, and 0 replacement bulls. The feeder supply consisted of about 40% English breed and English crosses, 30% Exotic breed and Exotic crosses, 30% Brahma and Brahma crosses, and 0% Holsteins and other dairy breeds. The feeder supply included about 60% steers and bulls with 40% heifers. Prices follow with weighted average price in parenthesis.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 50.00 to 55.50; high dressing, 56.00 to 60.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 45.00 to 49.50; high dressing, 50.00 to 55.50; low dressing, 40.00 to 44.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 53.00 to 57.50; high dressing, 58.00 to 62.50; low dressing, 48.00 to 52.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 69.00 to 71.00.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 420 to 445 lbs., 113.00 to 125.00 (118.57); 450 to 488 lbs., 113.00 to 122.00 (115.80); 500 to 548 lbs., 108.00 to 115.00 (111.12); 563 to 595 lbs., 102.00 to 110.00 (105.97); 600 to 640 lbs., 102.00 to 108.50 (103.85); 655 to 660 lbs., 104.00 to 106.00 (105.00); 800 to 845 lbs., 83.00 to 89.00 (85.39); 885 to 885 lbs., 82.00 to 93.50 (87.75). Medium and large frame 2, 365 to 395 lbs., 107.00 to 117.00 (111.94); 410 to 443 lbs., 100.00 to 110.00 (108.08).

Medium and large frame 2, 305 to 338 lbs., 94.00 to 107.00 (101.75); 350 to 390 lbs., 100.00 to 109.00 (106.04); 455 to 465 lbs., 80.00 to 99.00 (89.70); 535 lbs., 83.00 to 85.00 (84.00); 550 to 591 lbs., 84.00 to 91.00 (86.08).

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 to 6 years old, 1200 to 1400 lbs., with 100- to 200-lb. calves 850.00 to 950.00 per pair.
