Dalhart cattle sales report

The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 2,051 head June 26, compared to 1,624 head last week and 1,107 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to firm. Slaughter cows and bulls were $3 to $5 higher. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 225- to 750-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 29% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, replacement cows 10%, and feeders 60%. The feeder supply included 70% steers and 30% heifers, with nearly 40% over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 300 lbs., 152.00 to 158.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 132.00 to 136.00, three packages 317 to 327 lbs., 144.00 to 148.50; three packages 400 to 482 lbs., 109.00 to 126.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 111.00 to 118.00, lot 536 lb. yearlings 121.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 110.00 to 113.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 106.50 to 108.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 228 lbs., pre-conditioned 169.00; package 456 lbs., 110.00; few 500 to 600 lbs., 106.50 to 110.00; package 671 lbs., 103.00; package 768 lbs., 103.50. Medium and large frame 2, package 567 lbs., 103.00; package 660 lbs., 98.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 300 lbs., 121.00 to 130.00, three packages 205 to 235 lbs., 141.00 to 144.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 111.00 to 117.00, package 331 lbs., pre-conditioned 126.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 107.00 to 109.00, lot 506 lb. yearlings 111.00; package 646 lbs., 103.00; few 700 to 800 lbs., 95.00 to 98.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 200 to 300 lbs., 120.00 to 125.00; package 586 lbs., 101.00; package 690 lbs., 97.50; package 799 lbs., full 90.50. Medium and large frame 2, few 300 to 400 lbs., 106.00 to 108.00; package 560 lbs., 96.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1340 lbs., 70.00, individual. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 59.50 to 65.25. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 58.00 to 63.75; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 53.50 to 61.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1700 to 1900 lbs., 77.50 to 82.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 900 to 1250 lbs., with 80- to 225-lb. calves, 1000.00 to 1300.00 per pair; middle-aged to aged, 1000 to 1300 lbs., with 100- to 250-lb. calves, 825.00 to 1025.00 per pair.
