Amarillo livestock salesThe Amarillo Livestock Auction, Amarillo, Texas, July 1, reported receipts of 725 head, compared to 755 head last week and 1,100 head last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas. Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to firm. Slaughter cows were $2 to $4 higher. Slaughter bulls were $2 to $3 higher. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 400- to 850-pound feeder steers and heifers. Trade and demand were moderate to good. Slaughter cows made up 6% of the offering, slaughter bulls 3%, replacement cows 3% and feeders 88%. The feeder supply included 49% steers and 61% heifers, with nearly 77% of the run weighed over 600 pounds. Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 346 lbs., 126.00, package 557 lbs., 112.00; package 626 lbs., 105.00; lot 722 lbs., 109.00; few 800 to 825 lbs., 106.50 to 107.00.
