ALB makes key decision at June meeting: Hires new executive directorThe Board of Directors of the American Lamb Board has hired Executive Director Megan Wortman. Wortman has been promoted from Program Director and now heads up the ALB office in Denver, Colo., effective June 10. "We have had great success in building awareness about American Lamb and strengthening partnerships with retailers, chefs, and with our industry partners over the past four years under Megan 's vision and leadership," said Chico Denis, ALB Chairman. "Her passion for our industry and her strong background and skills will help the Board expand upon our successful promotional effort and to implement new programs to benefit the industry." "I am very honored by the confidence shown in me by the members of the ALB," said Megan Wortman. "I am truly excited about this opportunity to lead this organization towards continued success to increase demand for American Lamb." Megan has been with the American Lamb Board since June 2003. Megan first worked with the Board as a contractor through Association Partners Plus developing and implementing ALB's Industry Communications program. Wortman was hired as a full time employee of ALB in June 2004 to oversee all the Marketing and Communications programs. Prior to working with the American Lamb Board, Megan had more than 10 years experience working with agriculture trade associations and commodity checkoff Boards. Wortman has a BA from Gonzaga University and an MBA from George Washington University. The American Lamb Board is a national promotion, research and information organization whose purpose is to strengthen the position of lamb and lamb products in domestic and foreign markets. The 13-member board, appointed by the Secretary of Agriculture, is composed of six producers, three feeders, one seedstock producer and three first handlers. The work of the Board is overseen by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Agriculture Marketing Service. 7/7/08 Date: 7/2/08
