Tulia livestock sales report

The Tulia Livestock Auction, Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,214 head July 21, compared to 1,725 last week and 2,706 last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week feeder steers and heifers were steady to $1 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Trade and demand were moderate to good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 and 2, 200- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 9 percent of the offering, replacement cows less than 1 percent, and feeders 90 percent. The feeder supply included 56 percent steers and 44 percent heifers. Nearly 64 percent of the run weighed more than 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, 280 to 300 lbs., 124.00 to 126.00; pkg 320 lbs., 127.00; 400 to 475 lbs., 120.00 to 126.00; 530 to 590 lbs., 113.00 to 117.50; 600 to 625 lbs., 112.00 to 113.00; lot 744 lbs., 113.15, 760 to 770 lbs., 112.00 to 112.50; lot 801 lbs., 112.25. Medium and large frame 1 and 2, lot 361 lbs., 110.00; pkg 614 lbs., 106.50; 780 to 800 lbs., 109.00 to 111.75; lot 864 lbs., 101.50. Medium and large frame 2 and 3, lot 739 lbs., 97.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 250 to 275 lbs., 115.00 to 116.00; 330 to 390 lbs., 110.00 to 111.00, lot 328 lbs., value added 131.00; 440 to 475 lbs., 109.00 to 110.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 109.00 to 110.00; 640 to 670 lbs., 109.00; 700 to 720 lbs., 106.00 to 106.25; pkg 804 lbs., 104.50; pkg 959 lbs., 93.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2: 300 to 400 lbs., 105.00 to 108.00; 430 to 500 lbs., 105.00; lot 590 lbs., 109.00; pkg 663 lbs., 101.00; lot 739 lbs., 103.50. Medium and large frame 2 and 3, lot 738 lbs., 95.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80 percent lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 58.00 to 59.00. Boners, 80 to 85 percent lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 60.00 to 63.00; high dressing, 66.50; low dressing, 58.00 to 58.50; 1000 to 1200 lbs., 61.00; high dressing, 63.00 to 66.00; low dressing, 57.00. Lean, 85 to 90 percent lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 59.00 to 62.00; 800 to 1000 lbs., 55.00 to 58.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield Grade 1 and 2, 1625 to 1635 lbs., 70.00 to 73.50; low dressing, 1040 to 1565 lbs., 67.00 to 69.00.

Cow-calf pairs: Medium and large frame 1 and 2, young to middle-aged, 875 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 250-lb. calves, 835.00 to 1125.00 per pair.
