Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 2,457 head, July 17, compared to 1,411 head, last week and 17,869 head, last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers 750 to 1000 lbs., firm to $1 higher, instances were $2 higher, heifers 700 to 900 pounds were weak to $1 lower. Steers and heifers under 700 pounds were not enough for a market test, however a steady undertone was noted. Trade was active and demand was good. Slaughter cows were weak to $3 lower, the bulk of supply was mostly lean cows weak to $1 lower. Slaughter bulls were steady to weak, the bulk of the supply was mostly low dressing. Receipts included 88% over 600 pounds, 5% under 600 pounds and 7% slaughter cows and bulls. The feeder supply consisted of 60% steers and 40% heifers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 700 to 750 lbs., 115.25 to 115.50 (115.48); 750 to 800 lbs., 113.50 to 116.50 (115.80); 800 to 850 lbs., 112.25 to 114.75 (113.24); 850 to 900 lbs., 111.50 to 114.25 (113.62); 900 to 950 lbs., 108.60 to 110.00 (109.16); 950 to 1000 lbs., 106.10 to 108.25 (106.50). Full 35 head, 897 lbs., 105.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 600 to 650 lbs., 113.00 to 114.50 (114.05); 5 head, 679 lbs., 109.00; 27 head, 716 lbs., 112.00; 27 head, 794 lbs., 112.50; 850 to 900 lbs., 109.75 to 111.25 (110.49). Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 74.50 to 78.00; high dressing, individual 84.25; low dressing, 58.00 to 73.50.
