Goldthwaite sheep sales

Mills County Commission Co., Goldthwaite, Texas, reported receipts of 2,048 head of sheep and goats, July 18, compared to 2,583 last week and 2,278 last year, according to the USDA-Texas Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, stock and feeder lambs were not tested. Light slaughter lambs were $5 to $7 lower, and heavy weights were steady on a light test. Stock and feeder goats were steady. Slaughter goats were $5 to $10 lower. Demand was good. The supply included around 35 percent sheep, including nearly 300 lambs.

Stock and feeder: Dorper ewes, 80 to 100 lbs., 35.00 to 60.00. Dorper bucks, 125.00 per head. Barbados ewes, 60 to 90 lbs., 24.00 to 42.00. Barbados bucks, 100.00 to 200.00 per head.

Slaughter lambs: Choice and Prime 2 and 3, Prime, 90 to 100 lbs., 85.00 to 90.00. Good and Choice 1 and 3, 40 to 85 lbs., 90.00 to 98.00. Good, 40 to 85 lbs., 85.00 to 90.00.

Slaughter ewes: Utility 1 and 3, medium fleshy, 100 to 130 lbs., 25.00 to 30.00.

Slaughter bucks: 100 to 250 lbs., 35.00 to 47.00.

Barbados: Ewes, few 70 lbs., 30.00.

Slaughter goats: Kids, Selection 1, 40 to 60 lbs., 99.00 to 107.00; 60 to 80 lbs., 96.00 to 107.50. Selection 2, 40 to 60 lbs., 90.00 to 100.00. Slaughter nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 25.00 to 40.00. Slaughter billies, 90 to 200 lbs., 72.00 to 82.00; few lightweights, 84.00 to 90.00. Slaughter muttons, Selection 1, few 87 lbs., 105.00.

Replacement goats: Nannies, Selection 1, 80 to 130 lbs., 35.00 to 60.00.

Stock and feeder goats: Few 25 to 40 lbs., 80.00 to 90.00.
