Georgia cattle market summary

The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending July 18, showed receipts of 11,797 head, compared to 14,014 head last week and 12,373 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, Thomasville, Ga.

Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows were $1 to $2 lower, bulls were steady to $1 lower, feeder steers were $1 to $2 higher, heifers were steady to $1 higher, steer calves were $1 to $3 higher, heifer calves were steady to $2 higher, replacement cows were $1 to $3 higher. The offering included 8% steers over 600 pounds, 34% steers under 600 pounds, 5% heifers over 600 pounds, 25% heifers under 600 pounds, 8% feeder cows, 18% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
