Wyobraska cattle salesThe combined sales volume of Wyoming, western Nebraska, and western North and South Dakota auctions for the week ending July 12, totaled 1,610 head, compared to 1,015 head last week and 6,300 head last year, according to the USDA-Wyoming Department of Agriculture Market News, Torrington, Wyo. Compared to last week at Wyoming auctions, feeder steers and heifers were not well tested. Demand was moderate. Direct trading was slow with no recent price comparison available. Buyer inquiry and demand were light to moderate. Some interest was noted for fall contracting of cattle. Unless otherwise noted direct prices are current FOB with a 2 to 3% shrink or equivalent and with a 5 to 10 cent from base weight. Steers made up approximately 81% of the supply, heifers 19%, with 100% of the offerings over 600 pounds. Direct sales accounted for 1545 head of the total receipts. Steers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 835 lbs., 101.00. Direct, Medium and large frame 1, FOB price, 950 lbs., 109.50 September. Delivered price, calves 710 lbs., 118.00 August; 800 lbs., 108.25. Heifers: Auctions, Medium and large frame 1, 770 lbs., 100.00.
