Tulia livestock sales report

The Tulia Livestock Auction Inc., Tulia, Texas, reported receipts of 1,725 head July 14, compared to 2,383 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture News-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to last week, no comparison was available due to the holiday closing last week. Trade and demand were good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 200- to 900-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows and bulls made up 4% of the offering, replacement cows less than 1%, and feeders 95%. The feeder supply included 56% steers, 44% heifers, with nearly 50% of the run over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1, package 223 lbs., 153.00, 240 to 275 lbs., 130.00 to 139.00; lot 314 lbs., 138.00, lot 373 lbs., 130.00; lot 468 lbs., 126.50; 515 to 585 lbs., 116.00 to 117.00; 650 to 680 lbs., 114.00 to 117.00; 745 to 775 lbs., 111.25 to 112.00; 800 to 840 lbs., 107.00 to 110.25; package 925 lbs., 100.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 325 to 400 lbs., 120.00 to 126.00; lot 497 lbs., 119.00; 580 to 600 lbs., 107.50 to 110.50; 630 to 640 lbs., 104.50 to 105.00; package 731 lbs., 109.50; 825 to 875 lbs., 101.00 to 103.00. Medium and large frame 2 to 3, lot 587 lbs., 105.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, part load 553 lbs., 103.50; 620 to 700 lbs., 92.50 to 103.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 200 to 270 lbs., 114.00 to 126.00; 300 to 390 lbs., 115.00 to 123.00; 400 to 470 lbs., 111.00 to 114.00, lot 477 lbs., thin 116.00; 500 to 520 lbs., 110.00 to 112.00; 600 to 640 lbs., 107.50 to 113.00; lot 712 lbs., 108.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, package 462 lbs., 109.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 102.00 to 107.00; lot 626 lbs., 105.00; 760 to 800 lbs., 97.00 to 102.00; 820 to 825 lbs., 97.00 to 98.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 60.00 to 62.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 60.00 to 64.00; 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 52.50 to 58.00; high dressing, 56.50 to 61.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1200 to 1600 lbs., 55.00; 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 52.50 to 55.00; 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 50.00 to 51.00; 85 to 90% lean, under 800 lbs., 42.00 to 48.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1440 to 1860 lbs., 72.00 to 76.00; high dressing, 1855 to 2095 lbs., 77.00 to 83.00; low dressing, 1105 to 1755 lbs., 61.00 to 67.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1085 to 1305 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, 610.00 to 740.00 per head; aged, 935 to 1105 lbs., 4 to 8 months bred, 530.00 to 590.00 per head.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 900 to 1035 lbs., with 75- to 100-lb. calves, 800.00 to 935.00 per pair.
