Texhoma livestock sales

The Texhoma Livestock Auction, Texhoma, Okla., reported receipts of 211 head July 16, compared to 156 head last week and 717 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last sale, no recent sales of feeder cattle or calves to test trends. Demand was very good for calves, good for feeder cattle. Fill was average. The supply included 6% steers, 82% heifers with 72% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. A total of 50 cows and bulls sold with 68% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 800 lbs., 104.50.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 480 to 494 lbs., 118.00 to 130.00 (121.36); 7 head, 534 lbs., 126.00.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 5 head, 383 lbs., 131.00; 10 head, 437 to 439 lbs., 116.00 to 126.00 (121.01); 5 head, 523 lbs., 115.00; 80 head, 729 lbs., 104.00.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 3 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1100 to 1500 lbs., 58.50; high dressing, 60.25 to 60.50. Boners, 16 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1000 to 1400 lbs., 57.00 to 60.50; high dressing, 61.00 to 66.00; low dressing, 51.50. Lean, 11 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1300 lbs., 55.00 to 58.50; high dressing, 59.50 to 61.00; low dressing, 51.00 to 53.00. Light, 3 head, 85 to 90% lean, 750 to 1000 lbs., 45.50 to 48.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1 head, 1400 to 2200 lbs., 75.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 to 9 years old, 875 to 1025 lbs., with 175- to 250-lb. calves, average blacks bred back 1100.00 to 1150.00 thin.
