Sioux Falls sheep salesThe Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 577 head July 15, compared to 680 head last week and 1,476 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter lambs sold $2 to $3 lower. Slaughter ewes sold steady to weak on a light test. Feeder lambs were too few to test. Receipts included 65% slaughter lambs, 17% slaughter ewes, 7% feeder lambs and the balance was bucks and miscellaneous sheep. Slaughter lambs: Shorn Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 14 head, 135 lbs., 112.00. Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 28 head, 128 lbs., 112.00; 130 to 143 lbs., 110.00 to 113.25 (112.09). Wooled Choice 2 to 3, 113 to 119 lbs., 100.50 to 102.50 (101.43). Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 17 head, 154 to 157 lbs., 25.75 to 27.75 (26.80); 19 head, 160 to 178 lbs., 26.00 to 28.50 (26.96). Good 2 to 4, 11 head, 198 lbs., 27.25. Utility and Good 1 to 3, 141 to 148 lbs., 19.54 to 23.50 (20.59); 7 head, 178 lbs., 20.25. Utility 1 to 2, 16 head, 121 to 134 lbs., 18.50 to 19.50 (18.75). Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 58 lbs., 98.00; 16 head, 88 lbs., 103.00. Small and medium frame 1 to 2, 15 head, 93 lbs., 89.50. Slaughter kids: Selection 1, 13 head, 57 to 59 lbs., 103.00 to 109.00 (107.11). Slaughter nannies/does: Selection 1 to 2, 5 head, 129 lbs., 43.00.
