OKC West livestock report

The OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 6,728 head July 16, compared to 7,801 head last week and 4,024 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers steady to $2 lower. Demand was good for feeder cattle. Steer and heifer calves were steady, except fleshy unweaned calves were $2 to $3 lower. Demand was moderate to good for calves. Quality of feeder cattle attractive with several large drafts included. Feeder cattle in medium to moderate flesh with average to full weigh to ups. Slaughter cows were steady to $3 lower. Slaughter bulls were $2 lower. Packer demand remains good. A total of 218 cows and bulls sold with 61% going to packers.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, few 450 to 475 lbs., 121.00 to 132.00, fleshy 115.00 to 118.00; few 525 to 575 lbs., 116.00 to 126.00, fleshy 107.00 to 115.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 110.00 to 114.00; 750 to 775 lbs., 95.00 to 96.50. Yearlings, few 625 to 700 lbs., 111.50 to 115.00; 750 to 800 lbs., 110.00 to 112.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 109.00 to 111.00; 850 to 900 lbs., 107.00 to 109.90; 900 to 950 lbs., 105.25 to 108.00; 950 to 1000 lbs., 102.75 to 105.50; 1000 to 1025 lbs., 98.00 to 103.75. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 695 lbs., 112.75; 700 to 800 lbs., 108.00 to 113.00; 825 to 900 lbs., 105.00 to 109.50; 900 to 1000 lbs., 101.00 to 106.25. Medium and large frame 2, 450 lbs., 110.00; 650 lbs., 105.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 103.00 to 109.00; 800 to 875 lbs., 103.50 to 107.50; 975 to 1000 lbs., 98.50 to 100.50. Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, calves, 385 lbs., fleshy 104.00; 445 to 500 lbs., 105.00 to 113.00, 495 lbs., fleshy 98.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 104.50 to 106.50; 530 lbs., fleshy 98.00; 625 to 700 lbs., few 90.00 to 94.50. Yearlings, lot 595 lbs., 108.50; package 675 lbs., fleshy 103.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 103.00 to 107.00; 800 to 885 lbs., 100.00 to 104.75; 900 to 975 lbs., 98.50 to 102.25. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 550 lbs., 104.50; 600 to 675 lbs., 104.50 to 106.50; 700 to 775 lbs., 101.00 to 104.50.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 33 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1625 lbs., 57.00 to 60.00; high dressing, 63.00 to 64.50; low dressing, 54.00 to 55.00. Boners, 23 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1050 to 1525 lbs., 56.50 to 59.00; high dressing, 60.50 to 64.50; low dressing, 48.50 to 54.00. Lean, 31 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1425 lbs., 53.00 to 56.50; high dressing, 59.50 to 62.00; low dressing, 43.75 to 53.50. Lights, 19 head, 80 to 90% lean, 775 to 1000 lbs., 50.50 to 53.50; low dressing, 45.50 to 48.50; very high 40.00 to 44.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 15 head, 1500 to 2150 lbs., 71.00 to 74.50; high dressing, 74.50 to 78.00; low dressing, 69.00 to 70.50.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, heifers, 850 to 975 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, low to average quality 640.00 to 730.00; 3 to 5 years old, 1050 to 1150 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average quality 800.00 to 840.00; 7 to 10 years old, 1075 to 1350 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, average quality 650.00 to 770.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 4 to 5 years old, 1050 to 1100 lbs., with 175- to 225-lb. calves, average black 1310.00; 4 to 8 years old, 1000 to 1300 lbs., with 200- to 400-lb. calves, average quality 1050.00 to 1175.00.
