North Arkansas livestock sales reportThe North Arkansas Livestock Auction, Green Forest, Ark., reported receipts of 965 head July 16, compared to 1,026 head last week and 1,070 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark. Compared to last week, slaughter cows and bulls were $2 to $3 lower. Feeder steers were steady to $2 higher. Feeder heifers mixed mostly steady to $3 lower except some 600 to 650 pounds were $1 to $5 higher. The supply included about 450 feeder calves, 340 yearlings, 40 replacement or feeder cows, 115 slaughter cows, 19 slaughter bulls, 1 replacement bulls. The feeder supply included about 43% over 600 pounds, 39% steers, 2% Holsteins, 41% heifers, and 18% bulls. Prices follow with weighted average price in parenthesis. Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 53.00 to 53.50; high dressing, 54.00 to 60.75. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 50.00 to 54.00; high dressing, 54.50 to 60.00; low dressing, 47.00 to 49.00.
