New American Junior Shorthorn Association board electedThe 2008 National Junior Shorthorn Show and Conference was held in Kansas City, Mo., June 30 to July 5. Junior delegates took part in electing six new members to the American Junior Shorthorn Association Board of Directors, with the new and retiring board members electing the new AJSA officers. The 2008-09 AJSA Board of Directors are as follows: President Ben Warfield, Marriottsville, Md., a senior at Texas A&M University pursuing a degree in business. He is the son of J.G. and Laura Warfield. Vice President Callyn Hahn, Watseka, Ill., is currently attending Kansas State University. She is the daughter of Doug and Donna Hahn. Secretary Claire Galley, DeQuincy, La., is a senior attending Sulphur High School. She is the daughter of Bryan and Julie Galley. Newly elected board members include: Public Relations Officer Torie Schwartz, Rossville, Ind. She is the daughter of Joe and Marla Metzger. Schwartz will graduate next year with her associates degree, in the agricultural transfer program at Black Hawk College, East Campus, in Kewanee, Ill., and then pursue her bachelors at a four year university. Director, Katie Mack, Zumbrota, Minn., is majoring in animal Science and marketing and communications with an agriculture emphasis at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. She is the daughter of Timothy and Marie Mack. Director, Ry Stover, Binger, Okla., is the son of Wes and Cheryl Stover. He is attending Redlands Community College on a judging scholarship. Stover then plans to attain a degree in Animal Science, and pursue his bachelors from Oklahoma State. Director, Tate McCarty, Weatherford, Texas, will be a sophomore at Texas Tech University majoring in ag business and horticulture and turf grass management, in Lubbock, Texas. He is the son of Bruce and Lori McCarty Director, Brandi Truckenbrod-Hofstatter, Lacon, Ill., is the daughter of Paul and Patricia Truckenbrod. She is attending Illinois Central College in East Peoria, Ill., majoring in animal science and ag communications, and then plans to transfer to Iowa State University to complete her education. Director, Candace Hartsfield, Lawrenceburg, Tenn., will be a junior at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, Tenn., majoring in animal science with a concentration in communications. She is the daughter of CA and Patty Hartsfield. Retiring form the junior board, fulfilling their terms are Alicia Stover, Binger, Okla.; Tyler Hahn, Watseka, Ill.; Laura Ewald, Waldorf, Minn.; Holly Smith, Prineville, Ore.; and Jennifer Carter, Celina, Texas. These members have put forth much effort during their tenure on the AJSA board, and the membership is very grateful for their leadership and aptitude. The AJSA Board has a mission to positively impact the leaders of tomorrow and today by maintaining professionalism, encouraging members to expand awareness of our world, and by committing themselves to the Shorthorn breed, its members, and to each other.
