Georgia cattle market summary

The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending July 11, totaled 14,014 head, compared to 15,270 head year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga.

Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $2 higher, feeder steers were steady to $2 lower and heifers were unevenly steady. Steer calves were $1 to $3 lower and heifer calves were steady to $3 lower. Replacement cows were mostly steady. The offering included 7% steers over 600 pounds, 35% steers under 600 pounds, 5% heifers over 600 pounds, 27% heifers under 600 pounds, 7% feeder cows, 17% slaughter cows and 2% bulls.
