Ericson livestock sales report

The Ericson Spalding Livestock Auction, Ericson, Neb., reported receipts of 5,300 head July 12, compared to 3,500 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb.

There were no recent feeder auctions to establish a trend, however, a higher undertone was noted. There was good demand and buyer turnout for this year's annual barbeque auction. Receipts consisted of 48% steers and 52% heifers with 86% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 7 head, 438 lbs., 128.00; 483 to 490 lbs., 131.50 to 132.00 (131.73); 519 to 549 lbs., 128.50 to 131.50 (129.45); 562 to 591 lbs., 121.25 to 135.00 (125.99); 604 to 648 lbs., 118.25 to 132.75 (126.42); 672 to 698 lbs., 115.85 to 125.00 (120.13); 709 to 748 lbs., 118.50 to 122.00 (119.71); 756 to 799 lbs., 113.85 to 116.75 (114.76); 803 to 846 lbs., 111.85 to 117.35 (115.43); 864 to 866 lbs., 113.00 to 113.60 (113.34); 914 to 917 lbs., 116.10. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 10 head, 436 lbs., 133.00; 470 to 484 lbs., 123.00 to 135.50 (132.04); 39 head, 545 lbs., 127.00; 14 head, 612 lbs., 114.50; 8 head, 688 lbs., 118.75.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 458 to 491 lbs., 117.00 to 122.50 (121.12); 11 head, 511 lbs., 121.50; 563 to 595 lbs., 108.50 to 119.25 (116.41); 601 to 648 lbs., 110.25 to 121.50 (114.66); 664 to 697 lbs., 109.50 to 114.50 (112.35); 703 to 746 lbs., 106.60 to 113.50 (110.04); 779 to 798 lbs., 108.35 to 121.35 (111.28); 803 to 842 lbs., 106.50 to 109.80 (108.56); 858 to 876 lbs., 108.00 to 108.60 (108.17); 6 head, 963 lbs., 102.75.
