Dalhart livestock sales report

The Cattleman's Livestock Auction, Dalhart, Texas, reported receipts of 1,386 head July 10, compared to 1,306 head last year, according to the Texas Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Amarillo, Texas.

Compared to two weeks ago, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $1 higher. Slaughter cows and bulls were firm. Trade was active. Demand was good. The bulk of the supply were Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 250- to 675-pound feeder steers and heifers. Slaughter cows made up 31% of the offering, slaughter bulls 1%, replacement cows 3%, and feeders 65%. The feeder supply included 30% steers and 70% heifers, with nearly 10% of the run over 600 pounds.

Steers: Medium and large frame 1: 200 to 300 lbs., 147.00 to 148.00, package 214 lbs., 168.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 130.00 to 136.00, package 301 lbs., 146.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 121.00 to 123.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 116.00 to 118.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 110.50 to 113.00; package 765 lbs., 105.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, few 200 to 300 lbs., 143.00 to 144.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 123.00 to 129.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 113.00 to 118.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 106.00 to 111.00; few 600 to 700 lbs., gaunt 110.75 to 111.00; package 882 lbs., 105.50. Medium and large frame 2, 400 to 500 lbs., 101.00 to 107.00; package 641 lbs., 104.50.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, four packages 210 to 276 lbs., 119.50 to 134.00; 300 to 400 lbs., 113.00 to 119.00, pre-conditioned 120.00 to 121.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 112.00 to 117.00, package 493 lbs., 107.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 106.00 to 109.00, load 569 lb. yearlings 117.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, three packages 222 to 232 lbs., pre-conditioned 151.00 to 160.00; 300 to 400 lbs., pre-conditioned 114.50 to 120.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 105.00 to 105.50, thin 113.00 to 113.50; 500 to 600 lbs., 102.50 to 105.00; package 885 lbs., 91.00. Medium and large frame 2: 400 to 500 lbs., 104.00 to 106.00; package 533 lbs., 97.50.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1300 lbs., 66.00 to 69.00; high dressing, 70.00 to 70.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1200 lbs., 66.00 to 69.00; low dressing, 58.00 to 61.50. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 800 to 1000 lbs., 62.00 to 65.00; low dressing, 54.50 to 59.75.

Dairy slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1600 to 1700 lbs., 62.50 to 64.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 1300 to 1600 lbs., 61.50 to 64.75. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 56.00 to 60.50.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1400 to 1900 lbs., 76.00 to 85.00; high dressing, 2000 lbs., 90.25, few.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, young to middle-aged, 1000 to 1200 lbs., with 100- to 225-lb. calves, 920.00 to 1150.00 per pair.
