Arkansas livestock summary news

The weekly summary of livestock sales in Arkansas for the week ending July 11, showed estimated receipts of 6,735 head, compared to 3,776 head last week and 9,145 head last year, according to the Arkansas Extension Service-USDA Market News, Little Rock, Ark.

Compared to last week, slaughter cows sold steady to mostly $1 higher. Slaughter bulls sold steady to $1 higher. Compared to last week's light pre-holiday test feeder steers sold nearly steady. Feeder heifer calves sold $2 to $5 lower, yearlings were firm to $4 higher. The supply was composed of 3,770 stocker and feeder calves, 1,895 feeder yearlings, 325 replacement cows, 630 slaughter cows and 115 slaughter bulls. The feeder supply was 41% yearling heifers.

Slaughter cows: Breakers, 75 to 80% lean, 1000 to 1500 lbs., 52.00 to 58.00; high dressing, 58.00 to 62.00. Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 950 to 1400 lbs., 52.00 to 58.00; high dressing, 58.00 to 64.50; low dressing, 47.00 to 52.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 900 to 1300 lbs., 46.00 to 52.00; high dressing, 52.00 to 61.00; low dressing, 38.00 to 46.00. Light, 85 to 92% lean, 700 to 950 lbs., 38.00 to 46.00; low dressing, 28.00 to 38.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 1000 to 2100 lbs., 65.00 to 73.00; high dressing, 73.00 to 82.00; low dressing, 59.00 to 65.00.
