Aberdeen cattle sales report

The Hub City Livestock Auction, Aberdeen, S.D., reported receipts of 1,591 head July 16, compared to 1,785 head last week and 3,186 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, a trend on feeder steers was not applicable due to light receipts last week and different weights offered. Heifers sold steady to $2 higher. The offering was composed 57% steers, 43% heifers, with 90% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 8 head, 226 lbs., 320.00 per head; 11 head, 327 lbs., 500.00 per head; 6 head, 549 lbs., 115.50; 656 to 665 lbs., 120.00 to 126.00 (124.31); 767 to 783 lbs., 113.00 to 117.25 (114.91); 13 head, 891 to 897 lbs., 108.50 to 114.00 (111.03); 16 head, 928 to 934 lbs., 109.50 to 110.00 (109.66); 17 head, 950 lbs., 104.25; 1029 to 1038 lbs., 100.00 to 103.00 (100.51); 27 head, 1198 lbs., 93.50. Large frame 1 to 2, 6 head, 854 lbs., 72.00.

Feeder Holstein steers: Large frame 3, 12 head, 416 lbs., 82.00; 9 head, 609 lbs., 78.75; 663 to 679 lbs., 72.50 to 77.25 (76.40); 756 to 786 lbs., 67.50 to 69.25 (68.64); 13 head, 967 to 996 lbs., 71.50 to 72.50 (72.19); 7 head, 1062 lbs., 64.50.
