Tulsa livestock sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 1,724 head July 7, compared to 2,254 head last week and 1,884 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, stocker steers were mostly steady. Feeder steers were $1 to $2 higher. Stocker heifers and feeder heifers were $2 to $4 higher. Weigh-ups were mostly average, with very good demand on all classes of cattle. There was a higher instance of No. 1 cattle with good attendance of buyers. Receipts included 41% steers, 47% heifers, 10% bulls, with 29% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls fully steady, with best demand for lean high yielding cows. A total of 264 cows and bulls sold with 64% going to packers.

Lean, 60 head, 85 to 90% lean, 975 to 1375 lbs., 56.00 to 59.50; high dressing, 60.00 to 61.50; low dressing, 51.50 to 55.00. Light, 33 head, 85 to 90% lean, 875 to 1000 lbs., 48.00 to 51.50; high dressing, 52.00 to 59.50; low dressing, 43.50 to 47.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 28 head, 1200 to 2125 lbs., 71.00 to 74.50; high dressing, 75.00 to 80.00; low dressing, 66.50 to 70.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 8 to 9 years old, 1100 to 1150 lbs., 5 to 6 months bred, low quality blacks, 620.00.
