Sioux Falls sheep sales reportThe Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 680 head July 8, compared to 992 head last week and 1,000 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, slaughter lambs sold steady to $1 higher. Ewes sold mostly steady. Feeder lambs were lightly tested, not enough to develop a trend, but a weaker undertone was noted. The offering consisted of 64% slaughter lambs, 16% feeder lambs; 11% slaughter ewes, with the balance consisting of slaughter goats. Slaughter lambs: Shorn, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 56 head, 130 lbs., 115.50. Wooled, Choice and Prime 2 to 3, 164 head, 128 lbs., 115.75 to 116.00 (115.86); 142 to 145 lbs., 116.75 to 117.00 (116.87). Wooled, Choice 2 to 3, 61 114 to 119 lbs., 102.50 to 109.25 (106.22). Wooled, Good and Choice 2 to 3, 9 head, 117 lbs., 95.00. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 14 head, 160 lbs., 31.00. Utility and Good 1 to 2, 16 head, 153 lbs., 21.50; 12 head, 162 to 196 lbs., 19.00 to 21.50 (20.96); 6 head, 208 to 215 lbs., 20.00. Utility 1 to 2, 9 head, 133 lbs., 16.50. Cull and Utility 1, 9 head, 164 to 172 lbs., 12.50 to 13.50 (13.16). Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 14 head, 84 lbs., 99.75; 49 head, 101 lbs., 99.25 to 101.75 (101.39). Medium and large frame 2, 13 head, 6 lbs., 87.00; 4 head, 91 lbs., 96.00; 5 head, 103 lbs., 93.00. Small and medium frame 2, 14 head, 59 lbs., 80.75.
