High Plains slaughter news

High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending July 6, totaled 216,580 head, compared to 227,944 head last week and 236,252 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 5,889 head, 1,250 to 1,450 lbs., 97.00 to 102.50 (100.38); 65 to 80% Choice, 16,637 head, 1,180 to 1,450 lbs., 98.50 to 102.50 (100.79); 35 to 65% Choice, 34,624 head, 1,120 to 1,450 lbs., 98.75 to 102.50 (101.48); 0 to 35% Choice, 727 head, 1,250 to 1,425 lbs., 99.50 to 102.00 (101.84).
