Delegates selected to 37th annual NAYI

Nebraska

The Nebraska Department of Agriculture is pleased to announce the selection of 130 Nebraska high school juniors and seniors to attend the 37th annual Nebraska Agricultural Youth Institute. NAYI will be held July 13 to 17 at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus.

"We are excited to see interest in the agricultural industry from today's youth," said NDA Director Greg Ibach. "This year's NAYI offers an excellent line-up of speakers, interesting meetings and numerous opportunities for the delegates to network with agriculture industry leaders."

"The Next Round of Agriculture" has been chosen as the theme for this year's Institute. The delegates will experience five days of agriculture policy discussion, agricultural career exploration and group discussions. Motivational speakers, a farm management program, and a newly created journalism opportunity will help the delegates to develop leadership potential and strengthen their pride in Nebraska's agricultural industry.

Since NAYI's beginning in 1971, more than 4,700 youth from across the state have participated in NAYI. The Institute is the longest-running agricultural youth institute of its kind in the nation.

NAYI is coordinated by the Nebraska Agricultural Youth Council, comprised of 14 college-age men and women selected by the Nebraska Department of Agriculture. Joe Holoubek, of David City, is the Agricultural Youth Coordinator for NDA and is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day planning of the Institute.
