Sioux Falls sheep salesThe Sioux Falls sheep auction, Sioux Falls, S.D., reported receipts of 587 head of sheep and goats Dec. 31, according to he USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News Service, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to two weeks ago, slaughter lambs sold mostly $2 higher on a holiday shortened market. Slaughter ewes were steady to $2 higher. Trends on feeder lambs were not applicable due to lack of comparable sales. Demand and buyer attendance were good. Receipts were nearly 61% slaughter lambs, 16% slaughter ewes and 10% feeder lambs and the balance was bucks and miscellaneous sheep. Slaughter lambs: Shorn, Choice and Prime 2 to 4, 136 to 137 lbs., 95.00. Wooled Choice and Prime 2 to 4, 119 to 124 lbs., 92.75 to 94.75 (94.12); 131 to 147 lbs., 90.50 to 92.00 (91.25). Wooled, Choice 2 to 3, 116 to 122 lbs., 85.50 to 91.25 (87.28). Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 4, 163 to 184 lbs., 37.25 to 44.00 (38.30). Good 3 to 4, 12 head, 176 lbs., 28.00. Utility 1 to 2, 5 head, 105 lbs., 20.25; 4 head, 121 lbs., 21.50. Cull 1, 5 head, 133 lbs., 15.00. Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 78 to 89 lbs., 106.00 to 116.00 (110.79); 12 head, 98 lbs., 100.00. Slaughter kids: Selection 1, 24 head, 44 lbs., 101.00.
