NWSS junior show features best of the bestOf the thousands of junior market animals that compete at the National Western Stock Show each year, only 90 of the very best are at the exciting Auction of Junior Livestock Champions held Jan. 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the Beef Palace Auction Arena. For Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion animals, the auction is televised live on Denver's 9NEWS, KUSA-TV. The auction is the final market place for the ribbon-winning steers, lambs, hogs and goats that were raised by junior exhibitors, 4-H and FFA youngsters ranging in age from 9 to 19. We are happy to say that winning bids have reached as high as $110,500. The National Western Stock Show and the Junior Auction continue to encourage today's youth to seek a future in agriculture, and to further their education; for example, ten percent of the Junior Auction bid price is deducted from every animal and donated to support the National Western Scholarship Trust. Businesses or individuals interested in bidding on one of the prize-winning junior animals may call the National Western office at 303-299-5560. In addition to encouraging youth in agriculture through their tax-deductible support, the buyers receive a color photo calendar of their animal, a buyer's ribbon and local and national recognition in several publications. 1/7/08 Date: 12/28/07
