Cropland leasing economics

Kansas

Are you concerned about cropland leasing issues this year with the potential for higher commodity prices? "I have been getting many calls from landowners and tenants about renting questions," stated David Coltrain, Walnut Creek Extension agent.

To address these concerns, a Cropland Leasing Economics meeting will be held at the Ness Fairgrounds in Ness City on Thursday, Jan. 10, from 1 to 3:30 p.m. The purpose of this meeting is to provide objective economic information for landowners and tenants to use in developing their 2008 cropland leasing arrangements.

Featured speakers will be Agricultural Economists Mark Wood and Daniel O'Brien from K-State Research and Extension. Topics to be discussed include principles of equitable cropland leasing arrangements, recent and expected crop production net returns, and the development of equitable crop share and cash rent lease arrangements for 2008. Plan to attend and get your questions answered.

K-State Research and Extension is committed to making its services, activities and programs accessible to all participants. If you have special requirements due to a physical, vision or hearing disability, please contact David Coltrain at 1-800-460-9079.
