Workshop focuses on farmland leases for tenants, landlordsNebraska University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension is offering a workshop to assist landowners, tenants and other agribusiness professionals with issues related to farmland ownership, management and leasing arrangements. The workshop will be offered on Feb. 8 at Mohr Auditorium in Scribner and on Feb. 15 at the August N. Christenson Research and Education Building at UNL's Agricultural Research and Development Center near Mead. Speakers include university specialists and educators, as well as area agricultural lenders and attorneys. Participants will have the opportunity to raise issues and questions during the opening session which will help guide discussion throughout the workshop. Topics include: The Status of Land Values; Developing a Fair Lease Arrangement; Determining and Sharing Irrigation Costs; Legalities of Lease Arrangements; and the Impact of Management on Farm Lease Arrangements. The closing session will include all speakers in an open panel discussion to address remaining questions. There is no fee for this workshop, but advance registration is requested the Wednesday prior to each workshop. Lunch will be served courtesy of area financial institutions.
