Tulsa livestock sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 1,700 head Jan. 21, compared to 2,975 head last week and 2,326 head last year, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, stocker steers were steady. Feeder steers were $1 to $3 higher. Stocker heifers were $2 to $4 higher. Feeder heifers were $1 to $2 higher. Weigh-ups were average to full. Demand was good on most classes with good attendance of buyers. Extremely cold temps continue across much of Oklahoma. Receipts were comprised of 49% steers, 40% heifers, 11% bulls, with 19% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were mostly steady. A total of 225 cows and bulls sold with 61% going to packers. Packer demand continues good.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 13 head, 310 to 335 lbs., 127.00 to 140.00 (138.29); 359 to 395 lbs., 122.00 to 133.00 (127.60); 401 to 440 lbs., 116.00 to 128.00 (123.37); 457 to 485 lbs., 114.00 to 118.50 (115.69); 500 to 541 lbs., 109.25 to 113.00 (110.34); 550 to 595 lbs., 103.00 to 109.50 (107.14); 604 to 634 lbs., 100.50 to 103.50 (101.77); 11 head, 651 to 661 lbs., 96.50 to 97.50 (97.13); 708 to 749 lbs., 92.50 to 98.25 (95.84); 18 head, 758 lbs., 94.25 to 95.00 (94.38). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 5 head, 942 lbs., 85.00 fleshy. Medium and large frame 2, 355 to 399 lbs., 115.00 to 123.00 (118.79); 14 head, 405 to 440 lbs., 106.00 to 115.00 (112.06); 20 head, 458 to 493 lbs., 103.50 to 113.00 (108.53); 9 head, 550 to 573 lbs., 98.00 to 105.00 (98.75). Small frame 4, 9 head, 481 to 493 lbs., 36.00 to 38.00 (37.12) Longhorn.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1, 13 head, 467 to 485 lbs., 107.50 to 113.00 (110.72); 500 to 547 lbs., 104.00 to 109.50 (106.02); 5 head, 517 lbs., 110.00 thin; 16 head, 563 to 585 lbs., 101.00 to 107.00 (104.41); 8 head, 600 to 630 lbs., 92.50 to 99.00 (94.56); 10 head, 655 to 695 lbs., 95.00 to 96.50 (95.74). Medium and large frame 2, 5 head, 708 to 740 lbs., 84.00 to 87.00 (85.77).

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 258 to 273 lbs., 100.00 to 104.00 (101.94); 320 to 345 lbs., 100.00 to 108.00 (106.30); 15 head, 362 to 398 lbs., 101.00 to 109.00 (105.02); 400 to 446 lbs., 99.00 to 109.00 (105.11); 450 to 495 lbs., 95.00 to 104.50 (100.63); 500 to 545 lbs., 93.00 to 102.50 (95.59); 553 to 594 lbs., 91.00 to 99.00 (96.23); 600 to 645 lbs., 87.00 to 92.00 (90.62); 12 head, 650 to 685 lbs., 85.00 to 90.00 (89.07). Slaughter cows: Breakers, 15 head, 75 to 80% lean, 1100 to 1600 lbs., 46.50 to 48.00; low dressing, 42.00 to 45.00. Boners, 22 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1100 to 1500 lbs., 47.50 to 49.50; low dressing, 43.00 to 46.50. Lean, 52 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1425 lbs., 47.00 to 50.50; high dressing, 51.00 to 53.00; low dressing, 43.00 to 46.50. Light, 27 head, 85 to 90% lean, 775 to 950 lbs., 41.00 to 44.50; high dressing, 45.00 to 50.50; low dressing, 36.50 to 40.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 22 head, 1200 to 2100 lbs., 57.00 to 60.50; high dressing, 61.00 to 64.50; low dressing, 52.50 to 56.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 5 to 6 years old, 1100 to 1400 lbs., 4 to 7 months bred, average quality, 800.00 to 900.00; 8 to 10 years old, 1200 to 1400 lbs., 6 to 7 months bred, average quality, 600.00 to 800.00.
