Salina cattle auction report

The Farmers and Ranchers Livestock Commission Co., Salina, Kan., reported receipts of 3,025 head Jan. 17, compared to 3,335 head last week and 2,944 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared with last week, steers few Medium and large frame 1, 600 to 750 pounds were weak to $1 lower. The bulk of trade 500- to 950-pound steers were $2 to $3 lower. Heifers, a few at 500 to 600 pounds were steady to weak, and at 600 to 900 pounds were $2 to $4 lower. Trade and demand were moderate. Receipts included 92.5% 600 pounds and over, 7% 600 pounds and under, 5% slaughter cows. The feeder supply included 70% steers and 30% heifers.
