OKC West livestock salesThe OKC West Livestock Market Inc., El Reno, Okla., reported receipts of 1,801 head Jan. 23, compared to 3,568 head last week and 432 head last year, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla. Compared to the last week, feeder steers were firm to $3 higher. Feeder heifers were lightly tested and few representative sales were $3 higher. Demand was good for the light run of feeders. Steer and heifer calves were not well tested. The bulk of feeders were off wheat or rye pasture and in slightly thin to fleshy conditions. Weigh-ups were average to full. The supply included 78% over 600 pounds, 21% under 600 pounds, and 1% cows and bulls. Heifers comprised 30% of the total. Slaughter cows were mostly $2 higher. Slaughter bulls were $1 higher. Packer demand was good for limited numbers of slaughter cows. The bulk of the supply were bred cows from one ranch. A total of 160 cows and bulls sold with 20% going to packers. Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, few 500 to 525 lbs., 115.00 to 118.00; 550 to 575 lbs., 105.00 to 110.00; few 650 to 700 lbs., 100.50 to 103.75, package 660 lbs., fleshy 99.00; 700 to 750 lbs., 97.00 to 102.75; 750 to 800 lbs., 97.50 to 98.25; 800 to 825 lbs., 96.50 to 98.50; 850 to 900 lbs., most fleshy 91.75 to 93.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 425 lbs., 119.00; 500 to 525 lbs., 113.00 to 114.00; 645 lbs., thin 107.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 97.00 to 101.50; 800 to 825 lbs., 94.50 to 95.75. Medium and large frame 2, 500 to 600 lbs., 105.50 to 111.00; 795 lbs., 95.00; 845 lbs., 90.00. Boners, 3 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1150 to 1550 lbs., 50.00 to 51.00; high dressing, 53.00. Lean, 7 head, 85 to 90% lean, 1000 to 1375 lbs., 46.00 to 47.50; high dressing, 51.50; low dressing, 39.00 to 45.50. Lights, 6 head, 80 to 90% lean, 875 to 1000 lbs., 45.50; high dressing, 48.50; low dressing, 36.50 to 39.50. Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 5 head, 1300 to 2225 lbs., 62.00; high dressing, 66.00; low dressing, 56.50 to 57.50.
