Joplin regional cattle sales

The Joplin Regional Stockyards, Joplin, Mo., reported receipts of 4,000 head Jan. 21, compared to 6,866 head last week and 7,133 head last year, according to the Missouri Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News Service, Jefferson City, Mo.

Compared to last week, steers sold $2 to $4 higher except those weighing from 500 to 700 pounds traded mostly steady. All heifers sold steady to $2 higher with some thin 400 pounders as much as $6 higher. Demand and supply were moderate with good buyer attendance. The supply included 53% steers, 41% heifers, 6% bulls with 60% over 600 pounds.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, lot 313 lbs., 131.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 117.00 to 127.50; 500 to 550 lbs., 107.00 to 117.00; 550 to 600 lbs., 103.00 to 105.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 97.50 to 103.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 93.50 to 100.00; 800 to 900 lbs., 87.00 to 95.00; 900 to 915 lbs., 87.00 to 91.50. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 116.00 to 123.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 109.00 to 121.00, thin 124.00 to 125.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 99.00 to 108.50; 600 to 700 lbs., 92.00 to 100.00; 700 to 800 lbs., 92.00 to 96.50. Large frame 1, 500 to 600 lbs., 104.50 to 110.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 92.50 to 100.50; lot 809 lbs., 97.00. Large frame 1 to 2, 700 to 800 lbs., 90.00 to 94.00.

Holstein steers: Large frame 3, lot 934 lbs., 62.00.

Heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 400 to 500 lbs., 98.00 to 108.00, several thin 110.00 to 115.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 92.00 to 100.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 87.00 to 94.00, fleshy 80.50 to 87.50; 700 to 800 lbs., 85.00 to 93.50; 840 to 950 lbs., 81.50 to 84.00. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 300 to 400 lbs., 102.00 to 113.00; 400 to 500 lbs., 92.00 to 102.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 86.00 to 93.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 84.00 to 87.00; 750 to 850 lbs., 82.00 to 84.50. Large frame 1, 570 to 730 lbs., 86.00 to 95.00.

Feeder bulls: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 360 to 440 lbs., 115.50 to 120.00; 500 to 600 lbs., 96.00 to 107.00; 600 to 700 lbs., 88.50 to 94.00; 700 to 805 lbs., 79.00 to 88.00.
