Huron cattle sales report

The Bales Continental Commission Co., Huron, S.D., reported receipts of 2,946 head Jan. 22, compared to 2,745 head last week and 3,298 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers sold unevenly steady. Demand and price were driven by weaned cattle with a shot program. Many load lots in the offering. The offering included 59% steers, 41% heifers, with 90% over 600 pounds.
