High Plains slaughter news

High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Jan. 20, totaled 164,482 head, compared to 107,639 head last week and 154,455 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 2,062 head, 1,300 to 1,500 lbs., 87.00 to 89.50 (87.43); 65 to 80% Choice, 2,436 head, 1,275 to 1,450 lbs., 87.50 to 91.50 (88.28); 35 to 65% Choice, 38,630 head, 1,075 to 1,475 lbs., 86.00 to 91.75 (90.35); 0 to 35% Choice, 1,930 head, 1,250 to 1,450 lbs., 87.00 to 91.50 (89.93).
