Georgia cattle auction report

The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending Jan. 18, totaled 10,747 head, compared to 13,793 head last week and 12,159 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga.

Compared to one week ago, slaughter cows were steady to $1 lower, bulls were steady, feeder steers were $1 to $4 lower, heifers were $2 to $3 lower, steer calves and heifer calves were $2 to $4 lower, replacement cows were $1 to $2 higher. The offering included 10% steers over 600 pounds, 33% steers under 600 pounds, 6% heifers over 600 pounds, 27% heifers under 600 pounds, 7% feeder cows, 15% slaughter cows, and 2% bulls.
