Faith livestock sales report

The Faith Livestock Commission Co., Faith, S.D., reported receipts of 2,722 head Jan. 21, compared to 3,047 head two weeks ago and 1,534 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to two weeks ago, feeder steers under 650 pounds sold $2 to $4 higher, and offerings over 650 pounds sold steady to $3 lower. Feeder heifers sold mostly steady to $2 lower. Replacement heifer trends were not applicable, however a higher undertone was noted when prices converted to CWT. Slaughter cows, slaughter bulls and feeder cows were not well tested. Demand was moderate to good on all classes with most activity of replacement heifers. Offerings consisted of many attractive replacement heifers and quality feeder cattle. Replacement quality heifers sold on a per head basis plus all heifers possessed a bangs vaccination clip. The feeder supply was comprised of 40% steers and 60% heifers with 76% over 600 pounds. The total receipts were comprised of about 95% feeder cattle, 3% feeder cows and 1% slaughter cows and bulls.

Feeder steers: Medium and large frame 1, 19 head, 465 to 467 lbs., 123.00; 7 head, 506 lbs., 122.50; 553 to 570 lbs., 115.00 to 122.00 (121.28); 600 to 648 lbs., 106.50 to 113.00 (110.40) calves; 650 to 684 lbs., 98.50 to 101.75 ( 99.93) calves; 705 to 727 lbs., 97.75 to 102.50 (100.50); 715 to 730 lbs., 92.25 to 96.00 (95.13) calves; 774 to 797 lbs., 92.00 to 94.50 (92.93); 770 to 783 lbs., 90.00 to 90.75 (90.06) calves; 804 to 842 lbs., 92.25 to 95.85 (93.56). Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 633 to 638 lbs., 103.00 to 107.00 (103.64) calves;.

Feeder heifers: Medium and large frame 1, 6 head, 412 lbs., 115.00; 21 head, 480 lbs., 110.00; 533 to 542 lbs., 102.25 to 108.75 (106.72); 555 to 573 lbs., 99.00 to 105.00 (102.11); 571 to 599 lbs., 600.00 to 625.00 (617.66) per head; 601 to 630 lbs., 93.00 to 98.00 (96.03) calves; 610 to 645 lbs., 610.00 to 760.00 (705.54) per head; 658 to 675 lbs., 89.00 to 93.10 (92.30) calves; 671 to 685 lbs., 735.00 to 835.00 (783.80) per head; 702 to 711 lbs., 89.50 to 95.50 (91.23); 714 to 716 lbs., 87.25 to 88.50 (87.86) calves; 711 to 740 lbs., 685.00 to 835.00 (829.37) per head; 38 head, 774 lbs., 87.25 calves. Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 12 head, 513 to 543 lbs., 98.00 to 100.50 (98.80); 554 to 589 lbs., 97.00 to 99.00 (97.77); 6 head, 779 lbs., 84.75) calves.

Feeder cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, middle-aged to aged, 1090 to 1325 lbs., 43.50 to 48.00. Large frame 1, 1500 to 1650 lbs., 43.50 to 47.50.
