Ericson cattle sales reportThe Ericson Spalding Livestock Auction, Ericson, Neb., reported receipts of 3,350 head Jan. 19, compared to 2,800 head last week and 4,050 head last year, according to the USDA-Nebraska Department of Agriculture Market News, Kearney, Neb. Compared to last week, the bulk of feeders trended steady to $2 higher. Demand for 500- to 550-pound steers dropped significantly from last week. Also, slightly weaker bids for weights over 700 pounds. There were extremely high premiums for reputation, replacement heifers. Receipts consisted of 60% steers and 40% heifers, 71% over 600 pounds.
