Apache livestock sales report

The Stockman's Livestock Inc., Apache, Okla., reported receipts of 4,577 head Jan. 19, compared to 3,695 head last week, according to the USDA-Oklahoma Department of Agriculture Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, feeder steers and heifers were steady to $1 lower. Steer and heifer calves were $1 to $2 lower. Weigh-ups were average to full. Demand for all classes of cattle was moderate to good. The supply included 65% steers, 32% heifers, 2% bulls and 64% over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows and bulls were steady to $1 lower. Packer demand was moderate to good. A total of 400 cows and bulls sold with 65% going to packers.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 14 head, 1450 to 1950 lbs., 55.00 to 59.00; high dressing, 61.50 to 65.50; low dressing, 52.00 to 55.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 2 to 3 years old, 950 to 1035 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, average quality, 880.00 to 1050.00; 4 to 6 years old, 1040 to 1350 lbs., 5 to 9 months bred, average quality, 900.00 to 1070.00.

Pairs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 7 to 9 years old, 900 to 1000 lbs., with 75- to 200-lb. calves, average quality, 750.00 to 860.00
