Aberdeen cattle sales report

The Hub City Livestock Auction, Aberdeen, S.D., reported receipts of 3,217 head Jan. 23, compared to 5,380 head last week and 5,619 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week feeder steers sold steady to $1 higher. Heifers sold steady to $2 higher. Demand was good with an active market. Many of the offerings with two rounds of shots. Steers comprised 66% of the run, heifers comprised 34%, with 84% over 600 pounds.
