Tulsa livestock sales report

The Tulsa Stockyards, Tulsa, Okla., reported receipts of 2,975 head Jan. 14, compared to 4,469 head last week, according to the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture-USDA Market News, Oklahoma City, Okla.

Compared to last week, stocker and feeder steers were $2 to $4 lower. Stocker heifers and feeder heifers were $3 to $5 lower. Weigh-ups were gaunt to full with most having an average fill. Demand was good on most classes, along with active bidding. Lighter cattle were least noticed. Receipts were comprised of 42% steers, 47% heifers, 11% bulls, with 37% of feeder cattle over 600 pounds. Slaughter cows were steady to $1 higher. Slaughter bulls were steady. A total of 409 cows and bulls sold with 43% going to packers. Packer demand was very good, especially on lean cows.

Large frame 1, 7 head, 424 lbs., 115.00. Small frame 3, 6 head, 379 lbs., 74.00 Longhorn; 5 head, 665 to 685 lbs., 37.50 to 39.00 (38.11) Longhorn.

Medium and large frame 2, 8 head, 503 to 532 lbs., 91.00 to 102.00 (99.11). Medium and large frame 3, 11 head, 625 to 645 lbs., 87.50 to 89.00 (87.64). Boners, 22 head, 80 to 85% lean, 1150 to 1730 lbs., 46.50 to 49.50; high dressing, 50.50; low dressing, 41.50 to 45.00. Lean, 64 head, 85 to 90% lean, 950 to 1475 lbs., 46.00 to 49.50; high dressing, 50.50 to 53.50; low dressing, 41.50 to 45.00. Light, 32 head, 85 to 90% lean, 650 to 975 lbs., 38.00 to 41.50; high dressing, 42.00 to 48.00; low dressing, 33.50 to 37.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 40 head, 1200 to 2150 lbs., 57.50 to 60.00; high dressing, 61.00 to 65.50; low dressing, 53.50 to 57.00.

Replacement cows: Medium and large frame 1, 6 years old, 1350 lbs., 7 months bred, high blacks, 975.00; 5 to 7 years old, 1050 to 1250 lbs., 5 to 7 months bred, average quality, 800.00 to 870.00; 8 to 10 years old, 1050 to 1225 lbs., 5 to 6 months bred, average quality, 440.00 to 490.00.
