Pratt livestock sales report

Pratt Livestock Sales Inc., Pratt, Kan., reported receipts of 2,990 head Jan. 10, compared to 1,128 head last week and 4,606 head last year, according to the USDA-Kansas Department of Agriculture Market News, Dodge City, Kan.

Compared to last week, steers and heifers at 300 to 600 pounds were steady to firm in a light supply. Steers at 600 to 700 pounds were steady to $4 lower, 700 to 800 pounds were steady to $3 higher, and 800 to 950 pounds were $1 to $2 lower. Heifers at 600 to 750 pounds were steady to $1 higher, and 750 to 900 pounds were $1 lower. Trade was active, demand was good. Slaughter cows were steady. Slaughter bulls were $4 higher. Receipts included 67% 600 pounds and over, 33% 600 pounds and under, 13% cows and bulls. The feeder supply included 67% steers and 33% heifers.

Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 8 head, 638 lbs., 104.10; 700 to 750 lbs., 94.50 to 95.00 (94.71); 8 head, 785 lbs., 95.00; 800 to 850 lbs., 96.00. Baby calves: Per head, 8 head, 150.00 to 230.00 (201.88).

Feeder cows and heiferettes: 73 head, 70.00 to 89.00 (80.38).

Bred cows: Per head, bred second trimester, Medium and large frame 1, aged, broken mouth, 18 head, 1278 lbs., 470.00.

Slaughter cows: Boners, 80 to 85% lean, 52.00 to 55.00. Lean, 85 to 90% lean, 42.00 to 47.00; high dressing, 48.00 to 51.00; low dressing, 35.00 to 40.00.

Slaughter bulls: Yield grade 1 to 2, 57.00 to 62.00 (59.00); low dressing, 52.00 to 56.00 (54.40).
