Newell sheep sales reportSt. Onge Livestock Co., Ltd., Newell, S.D., reported receipts of 2,217 head Jan. 10, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D. Compared to last week, trends were not applicable due to no recent comparable sales. Receipts were comprised of about 44% feeder lambs, 55% slaughter sheep with the balance miscellaneous sheep and goats. Slaughter lambs: Wooled, Choice 2 to 3, 46 head, 139 lbs., 85.00. Slaughter ewes: Good 2 to 3, 160 to 174 lbs., 35.50 to 36.50 (36.20). Good 3 to 4, 214 to 249 lbs., 29.75 to 30.00 (29.82). Utility 1 to 2, 148 to 158 lbs., 34.00 to 35.25 (34.93); 14 head, 178 lbs., 18.50. Cull 1, 132 to 145 lbs., 25.75 to 27.00 (26.56). Feeder lambs: Medium and large frame 1 to 2, 11 head, 58 lbs., 120.75; 17 head, 66 lbs., 121.50; 74 to 76 lbs., 116.50 to 117.50 (116.68); 56 head, 85 lbs., 112.00; 93 to 99 lbs., 104.75 to 106.00 (105.16); 114 to 115 lbs., 96.75 to 99.75 (98.71); 33 head, 123 lbs., 89.25 fleshy.
