Nebraska farmers appointed to Soy Transportation Coalition board of directors

Nebraska

Greg Greving of Chapman, Neb., and Norman Husa of Barneston, Neb., have been appointed to the recently established Soy Transportation Coalition board of directors. Greving and Husa are serving as the two representatives to the STC board from the Nebraska Soybean Board.

Greving farms near Chapman and raises soybeans, corn, seed corn, and wheat. Greving is serving his third term as a director on the Nebraska Soybean Board. He also serves on the National Biodiesel Board and has traveled extensively on overseas trips to promote Nebraska agriculture.

"I am honored to be appointed to the Soy Transportation Coalition board. The organization exists to help improve the transportation system on behalf of soybean farmers, not only in Nebraska but across the country," says Greg Greving.

Norm Husa and his wife, Linda, raise soybeans, corn, wheat, and milo. They also produce and sell certified seed and NGN soybean seeds. Husa has served as a director on the Nebraska Soybean Board for 12 years and as a director and officer of the United Soybean Board for 9 years. He is also active at the local, state and national level in several agricultural groups, including the Nebraska Crop Improvement Association.

"Transportation is an issue of growing importance to the soybean industry, and I'm looking forward to working toward tangible solutions to these challenges," says Norm Husa.

Mike Steenhoek, STC executive director, is pleased that the STC board is now in place and will be working on transportation issues.

"I would like to welcome Greg and Norm to the STC board. Their willingness to serve in this capacity highlights their commitment to their fellow soybean farmers. They will bring their rich experiences in production agriculture to supply capable leadership and direction to the STC board," says Steenhoek.

The Soy Transportation Coalition was recently established by the Nebraska Soybean Board and six other state soybean organizations, the American Soybean Association, United Soybean Board, National Grain and Feed Association and National Oilseed Processors Association. The primary goal of the STC is to position the soybean industry to benefit from a transportation system that delivers cost effective, reliable, and competitive service.
