Huron cattle sales report

The Bales Continental Commission Co., Huron, S.D., reported receipts of 2,745 head Jan. 15, compared to 3,289 head last week and 2,121 head last year, according to the USDA-South Dakota Department of Agriculture Market News, Sioux Falls, S.D.

Compared to last week, feeder steers sold $2 to $3 lower. Feeder heifers sold $1.50 to $2.50 lower. Demand and price were driven by weaned calves with a shot program. Many load lots in the offering. Steers comprised 59% of the run, heifers 41%, with 83% over 600 pounds.
