High Plains slaughter news

High Plains weighted average direct slaughter cattle sales for the week ending Jan. 13, totaled 107,639 head, compared to 211,110 head last week and 155,344 head last year, according to the USDA Market News Service, St. Joseph, Mo.

The report was based on sales in Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Nebraska, Colorado, Iowa and Minnesota feedlots.

Steers: Live FOB basis, over 80% Choice, 1,510 head, 1,300 to 1,500 lbs., 88.00 to 92.00 (89.62); 65 to 80% Choice, 2,798 head, 1,250 to 1,450 lbs., 88.00 to 92.50 (90.04); 35 to 65% Choice, 24,886 head, 1,075 to 1,450 lbs., 89.00 to 92.50 (91.63); 0 to 35% Choice, 2,042 head, 1,150 to 1,360 lbs., 90.00 to 92.50 (91.73). Dressed delivered basis, over 80% Choice, 610 head, 850 to 954 lbs., 145.00 to 151.00 (147.60); 65 to 80% Choice, 7,536 head, 756 to 950 lbs., 144.00 to 151.00 (147.48); 35 to 65% Choice, 16,909 head, 744 to 945 lbs., 144.00 to 148.00 (147.05); 0 to 35% Choice, 389 head, 760 to 803 lbs., 146.00 to 147.00 (146.46).
