Georgia cattle auction report

The summary of Georgia cattle auctions for the week ending Jan. 11, showed receipts of 13,793 head, compared to 12,098 head last year, according to the USDA-Georgia Department of Agriculture Market News, Thomasville, Ga.

Compared to the pre-holiday sales, slaughter cows were $2 to $3 lower, bulls were $1 to $3 lower, feeder steers were $1 to $3 lower, heifers were $1 to $4 lower, steer calves and heifer calves were $3 to $5 lower, replacement cows were $1 to $3 lower. The offering was comprised of 7% steers over 600 pounds, 32% steers under 600 pounds, 5% heifers over 600 pounds, 26% heifers under 600 pounds, 10% feeder cows, 18% slaughter cows and 3% bulls.
